Car crash in Studio City claims 1 life, injures another

Although most drivers in California and elsewhere follow the rule of the road to stay safe, they cannot control the actions of other motorists. Some drivers make sudden decisions on the road and abruptly change lanes or conduct other actions that can lead to accidents. This may be what happened that caused an early-morning wreck near Studio City recently that claimed the life of one of the drivers involved and sent at least one other person to the hospital.

Accident details

Around 2:00 a.m. during the morning of March 24, California Highway Patrol Officers responded to a two-vehicle accident. The collision occurred at the interchange between the 101 Freeway and the 134 Freeway. The crash involved two vehicles that were not identified.

The collision was so powerful, it apparently caused one of the cars to split in two. The other vehicle sustained serious damage. As a result of the wreck, a 20-year-old woman lost her life, and at least one other individual was taken to the hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The crash is still under investigation.

Determining fault and seeking compensation

The report did not state which of the drivers authorities believe caused the crash. Since they do believe one of the drivers made a quick and unexpected lane change that led to the accident, that information may be helpful in civil claims brought by those adversely affected. If the deceased driver caused the accident, her estate can be named in a personal injury claim brought by the hospitalized motorist. Conversely, the surviving family of the deceased victim may pursue a wrongful death claim against the injured driver if he or she is determined to have caused the crash. Either way, parties will want to work closely with an experienced personal injury attorney in California for assistance with their civil suits.
