Three people were hurt in a motor vehicle accident in California. The recent collision took place early in the morning on Saturday in Yolo County. The crash occurred along Interstate 80.
The California crash happened at about 4:11 a.m. According to police, an individual was driving a car on the highway and crashed into a sign. Police said the car then collided with a tree.
Three people occupied the car at the time of the accident. All three suffered major injuries and were taken to a medical center for treatment. Authorities said they believed that drugs and/or alcohol were a causal factor in the tragedy. Police continue to investigate the cause of the wreck.
The two injured passengers may choose to file personal injury claims against the car driver, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages incurred due to the California crash. Liability must be established, based upon a showing of negligence, and then a judge will decide the claims for damages. If the car driver is found to have caused the crash due to driving under the influence and is arrested and convicted on this criminal charge, proof of the conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding with to establish negligence per se regarding the accident. Successfully navigated civil claims may lead to damage awards to cover the injured passengers’ hospital bills and even the loss of wages if their injuries cause them to miss work for extended periods.
