Single-car crash claims life of driver, injures passenger

People place their lives and safety in the hands of drivers every time they get into a car with someone else. Historically, young male drivers have been shown to drive more aggressively than others, and they cause many car accidents each year. Such seems to be the case in a recent accident that claimed the life of the driver and injured his passenger.

Details regarding the accident

The single-car crash happened around 9:40 a.m. on Dec. 4. A 20-year-old man was driving a Nissan 350 on Manning Avenue near Kings River Road in Reedley. He also had an 18-year-old male passenger in his car.

As the driver approached a curve at a high rate of speed, he lost control of his vehicle and left the roadway. His car rolled down an embankment and plowed through a fence and then struck a utility pole. Witnesses to the crash confirm the driver was driving faster than the posted speed limit.

The driver was killed at the scene. However, his passenger survived and was taken to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Authorities have not determined if drug or alcohol impairment played a role, and they are continuing to investigate the crash.
