Terrible car crash in Norwalk claims life of mother, daughter

In California and elsewhere, an intersection is a notoriously dangerous place to drive through simply because it is the location where two or more roads meet. As such, drivers must be extra vigilant when navigating intersections and look both ways regardless of whether they have a green light. Unfortunately, it doesn’t matter how careful a driver is when going through an intersection if another driver is speeding or otherwise acting recklessly on the road. This appears to be exactly what happened in a horrible car accident recently in Los Angeles County that claimed the life of a mother and her daughter.

Accident details

Around 10:40 a.m. the morning of Sunday, Dec. 2, a mother and her daughter were going through the intersection of Studebaker and Foster Roads in Norwalk when another car ran the red light and struck theirs. Both the mother and the daughter succumbed to their injuries upon being transported from the scene. The report did not give their names but described the daughter as being 13 years old.

The alleged at-fault driver was described as a 26-year-old woman from Las Vegas. She was arrested and taken into custody on counts of manslaughter and driving without a driver’s license. Authorities also suspect she was speeding at the time of the crash and may have been intoxicated by drugs and/or alcohol.

Compensation for victims’ families

Although the surviving family members of the two deceased relatives reportedly established a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses, they also reserve the right to pursue wrongful death claims in California against the alleged at-fault driver in an attempt at obtaining much-needed compensation. Facts regarding the at-fault driver’s recklessness behind the wheel, as well as any forthcoming charges regarding her intoxication at the time, can be used as evidence in a claim against the 26-year-old.
